Andy Goldsworthy

For any creative person it is important to be aware of all sorts of art in the world. I happened upon the documentary Rivers and Tides about British artist Andy Goldsworthy and was reminded why I need to see more and always be learning outside of fashion history. Andy creates sculptures with only natural materials using his bare hands. His work is temporary because of it, and is the ultimate in non-pollutant art. I wanted to go dig in the dirt and sift through sand and be tactile with the earth because of this documentary. Though I want to do that after passing a construction site on the street or after watching people plant flowers. I love the smell of soil and when I go to the beach I can knead my hands and feet in the sand for long periods of time. Perhaps it is time to call the doctor?
