The Nan Goldin shots from the NY Times magazine are some of my all time favorites. Weirdly, I met her a few years later when she interviewed my friends and I at my little Brooklyn apartment for MTV's House of Style.
hey lindy. i wanted to post some of the nan goldin ones but she was too strung out looking in them, i am assuming from her heroin days. i would come across her during fashion week and there was definitely a rebelious vibe to her and maybe she came to nyc too early in her life and got caught up in the bad parts. but now i watch her hosting a reality show on vh1 and doing well in movies and she is married and she seems to be in a happy place. i remember her on house of style. there was an episode that featured her at her apartment on saint marks at the time.
Yeah, those Nan Goldin photos are rough - the one of her sitting on her much-too-old-for-her boyfriend's lap while swilling champagne always creeped me out.
I liked her when I met her, but she was definitely still struggling with her addictions - she and the guy she showed up with were 3 hours late and pretty busted. The guy even peed on my bathroom floor, the ding dong. But she was sweet and very beautiful and seemed genuinely interested as she lounged on my bed talking with me about my vintage clothes. It's good she came through all that well. Her spirit prevailed.
